STRIVER Day 2024: Presenter & Exhibiter Information

We are thrilled to invite you to participate in STRIVER Day 2024, a unique, interactive event bringing together individuals with visual disabilities, their families, professionals, and the general public. This year’s event is scheduled for Saturday, October 12th, 2024, at the Tennessee School for the Blind in Nashville, TN. The event will run from 8:15 AM to 4:30 PM, with the Expo and Exhibiter Showcase running simultaneously from 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM.

Why Should You Present or Exhibit at STRIVER Day?

STRIVER Day provides a valuable platform for you to share your knowledge, products, and services with a diverse audience, including individuals with visual impairments, their families, disabled veterans, professionals working with the blind/low-vision community, and a national audience from across Tennessee and the country. As a presenter or exhibiter, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Demonstrate your commitment to inclusivity.
  • Showcase your expertise, products, or services to key decision-makers.
  • Network with professionals, organizations, and individuals seeking to create more inclusive programs in adaptive sports, recreation, health, safety, and self-defense.
  • Gain visibility through national exposure to a wide audience.

Event Details

  • Date: Saturday, October 12, 2024
  • Event Time: 8:15 AM – 4:30 PM
  • Expo & Exhibiter Showcase: 9:30 AM – 3:30 PM
  • Location: Tennessee School for the Blind, 115 Stewarts Ferry Pike, Nashville, TN
  • Attendees: A mix of individuals with visual impairments, disabled veterans, their families, professionals working in sports, health, education, rehabilitation, parks, and recreation, as well as the general public.

Who Should Present or Exhibit?

We encourage the following groups to participate as presenters or exhibiters:

  • Professionals in Adaptive Sports and Recreation: Showcase how your program promotes health, fitness, and self-defense for individuals with disabilities.
  • Health, Fitness, and Recreation Experts: Share expertise in adaptive activities, physical education, community-based programs, and inclusivity practices.
  • Assistive Technology Companies: Demonstrate products that support individuals with visual impairments.
  • Organizations Serving Disabled Veterans: Highlight programs that enhance the lives of veterans with visual or other disabilities.
  • Education and Rehabilitation Specialists: Present strategies and tools to empower visually impaired students and transitioning adults in post-secondary education or careers.

What Presenters Can Expect

Presenters will have the opportunity to lead at least 2 of six 50-minute breakout sessions scheduled throughout the day. Each session allows for interactive demonstrations, discussions, and hands-on learning with attendees. If you feel you need additional time for your session, please contact STRIVER Day Coordinator, Lucy Mallahan during the registration process to explore the possibility of customizing your session length to best suit your presentation needs.

Breakout sessions will focus on topics such as:

  • Adaptive Recreation & Sports: Demonstrate ways individuals with visual impairments can stay active.
  • Health & Wellness: Highlight fitness strategies, nutrition tips, and personal development.
  • Personal Safety & Self-Defense: Share how building confidence and independence leads to healthier living, including insights from STRIVE4You’s SEED (Safety Education Empowering Defense) program, the only one of its kind designed for individuals with visual impairments.
  • Technology & Accessibility: Discuss the latest tools and innovations in assistive technology.
  • Education & Employment Opportunities: Offer insights for students, families, and professionals on creating inclusive environments.

Presenters are encouraged to provide a brief bio and session description when registering, and they are welcome to engage attendees with Q&A sessions and hands-on experiences.

Limited Funding for Presenter Travel, Lodging, and Fees

STRIVE4You understand that travel and lodging expenses may be a barrier for some presenters. We have limited funding available to assist presenters with travel, lodging, and presenter fees. These funds will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, so we encourage early registration to ensure availability.

Exhibiter Details

Exhibiters will have 1-2 table(S) in the Expo, where they can engage directly with attendees throughout the day. This is an excellent opportunity to display your products, services, and resources, and connect with individuals seeking adaptive solutions or professionals aiming to make their programs more inclusive. Exhibiters will be strategically placed throughout the event venue between breakout session areas to maximize foot traffic. Exhibiter space includes:

  • 1 -2 table(S) and 2 chairs.
  • Access to event volunteers to assist with booth setup or attendee interaction as needed.
  • Inclusion in the event’s program and STRIVER4You social media platforms.

Presenters and exhibitors are encouraged to contribute to our Door Prizes and Goody Bags. This is a great way to increase your organization’s visibility and connect with attendees in a memorable way. Volunteer Opportunities

We also invite your organization to volunteer at the event. Whether helping at the registration desk, assisting with event logistics, or guiding attendees, volunteering is a rewarding way to give back and engage with the community. Volunteers will have the chance to interact with attendees, gain new skills, and experience firsthand how inclusive programs can be impactful.
