SEED Intro To Self-Defense Workshop (Spokane WA)
The Safety Education Empowering Defense (SEED) program of STRIVE4YOU’s mission is to create a culture with safety and security for all, implementing a holistic circle of services training body, mind, and spirit.
This is a nation-wide program unlike any other. SEED’s adherence to STRIVE4YOU’s peer to peer approach makes it unique. Our curriculum has been developed principally by and for people with disabilities. SEED’s goal is to teach a principled approach to recognizing, analyzing, and responding to potentially threatening situations.
Strive4You is excited once again to be partnering with the Inland Empire Blind Veterans Association through the VA National Sports Program & Special Events FY20 Adaptive Sports Grant (ASG) to provide our SEED Introduction To Self-Defense Workshop April 15th from 9 AM to 3 PM. This exciting event will take place at the West Central Community Center, 1603 N Belt St, Spokane WA, in the Newton meeting Room. This introductory workshop will cover hands-on techniques, the SEED Functional Foundations, situational awareness, and various other particularly important self-defense topics. These in-person workshops give participants an opportunity to see how practical and efficient our SEED system of techniques is, while providing a welcoming environment for truly meaningful safety education discussions especially as they pertain to specific concerns within the disability community. Thanks to support from the VA Adaptive Sports Grant this event will be FREE to disabled veterans and VA staff. The general public may attend by invitation only and upon availability. There will be a$25.00 registration fee for non-veterans or VA staff. Lunch will be provided for all participants. For more information, please contact the event organizers.
